EXHIBITION – We, the Greenery by Anne BROCHOT

Le Fol Inventaire is a collection of hundreds of plant imprints, created by almost as many people. Le Fol Inventaire is not a botanical or scientific project, nor is it purely artistic or ecological. It is all of these at once, exploring the sensitive relationship that humans have — or do not have — with the plant world.

It is also a joyful project woven together by a network of Empreinteurs (“Imprinters”). These volunteers, whether artists or amateurs, have been helping to enrich the collection in collaboration with me, here and elsewhere around the world, since 2022.

The prints, of which I am the artist, are created from these imprints, playing with the infinite forms of plants as an expression of their vital intelligence. The proceeds from their sale help support and develop the workshops of Le Fol Inventaire. A number of original plant imprints are also included in this collection.

I am a visual artist and printmaker. I live in a small region in the south of the Île-de-France known as the Bocage, although today its consolidated fields are scorched beneath the heat of increasingly intense summers.

Wherever Le Fol Inventaire takes me, I ask: “And where you live, what is happening to the greenery?”

Or, more broadly: how can we — all living beings — live together sustainably and peacefully?

Marjorie Méa, an artist from the Creuse region and an Empreinteuse (“Imprinter”) for Le Fol Inventaire, has led workshops with pupils from the Sainte-Feyre and Jules Ferry primary schools in Limoges, with the IME La Roseraie, as well as with the association Les Jardins de la Sédelle and visitors to the Arboretum.

They are the creators of the imprints presented here.
